Easy, care-free, drought tolerant and gorgeous—wildflowers are the focus of a nationwide celebration from May 1-7, 2017.
Did You Know? Now in its 30th year, National Wildflower Week was founded in 1987 by the American Wildflower Society. The observance took on a decidedly Texas flavor in 2002 when Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center made it their own.
Stop to enjoy the wildflowers when you visit our parks and stroll our pathways:
- Tread lightly and stay on the path.
- Please, don’t pick the flowers.
- Take only photographs and memories when you leave.
- Add Texas native plants and wildflowers to your own landscape.
So, if we are so wild about wildflowers, why don’t we have more planted in subdivision entry ways and islands? We could show visitor’s that we are about more than using them for advertising development.
