3R Bazaar 2017: Reduce, Replay, Recycle!

cd dvd recycleAs we step into the future, we must find a solution for the disposal of our technological artifacts! In the spirit of targeting recycling oddities, The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department has selected CD and DVD disks and jewel cases for the annual Village Recycling Challenge at 3R Bazaar on Saturday, November 11, 2017

Did you know? CD’s and DVD’s are made of a different type of plastic than bottles and food containers. CD cases are created from polystyrene, #6 plastic, and disks are made from polyethylene terephthalate, #7 plastic. The limited recycling market for these plastics means that they are not economically recycled in our curbside carts.

Replay those CDs and DVDs and extend their life!

  1. Consider donating viable CDs and DVDs.
  2. If they are damaged, they may be destined for upcycling into an interesting piece of sustainable art, such as the works of Dan Phillips and the Phoenix Commotion in Huntsville, TX.

If you’re not feeling crafty, support your village by bringing your CD and DVD disks and jewel cases to 3R Bazaar for the Village Recycling Challenge. Each village  will be awarded scholarship funds from The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. based on the participation of their residents.

Even one CD or DVD recycled has value! Collecting and preparing the items for recycling is easy!

Share this information with your neighbors! Each Village will also earn scholarship funds just by providing volunteers at 3R Bazaar on Saturday, November 11.

Explore the future of recycling…new items are still being added to the one-day collections at 3R Bazaar! Keep in the loop at 3R Bazaar or call The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department at 281-210-3800 for more information.
