The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department actively promotes preserving the natural environment. The Department coordinates several programs and provides a variety of tips and resources to promote sustainable living in the community.

Environmental Services monitors the contract with Waste Management, providing an integrated residential solid waste plan for the community. Services include once-per-week curbside collection of garbage, recyclables and yard waste.

In addition, the department oversees The Woodland Recycling Center, located on Research Forest Drive, and the Community Gardens at Bear Branch Sportsfields and Alden Bridge Sportsfields.

  1. In recent years, with the construction of new commercial spaces the herds of deers who made of those forest their homes, has been lost. Where I live I used to see them often, but it is rare nowdays. Last week I notice a herd of about 5-7 deers, and there is a lot for sale that will likely be built soon. Wondering if the town relocates them to other parts before they get hit by cars.

  2. Edna, we appreciate and share your concern for wildlife here in The Woodlands. The Township works to protect wildlife through open space preservation, resident education, and invasive species removal. However, the Township does not have a deer re-location program. Local agencies that work with injured or nuisance wildlife can be found on the Township’s website at: http://thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/1142/Important-Phone-Numbers.
