Several hundred residents volunteer every year to tackle the challenges we encounter when a forest undergoes urban development. Despite the potential negative impacts on water quality, competition from introduced invasive species, and increase in litter, our community remains committed to addressing these issues. By working together, we can ensure that our remaining forested areas thrive and that the environmental health of our neighborhoods is preserved.
We love our volunteers! Environmental Services couldn’t manage over 100 free events, programs, classes and workshops a year without you! Your dedication makes all the difference in the success and reach of these projects.
Good as Gold!
A total of 1,548 volunteers spent 5,449 hours to Keep The Woodlands Beautiful by picking up and auditing litter, removing invasive species, reforesting greenspaces, marking storm drains, and engaging youth in service projects – a combined value of $173,262 and equivalent to 2.5 fulltime staff members – earning us GOLD AFFILIATE STATUS with Keep Texas Beautiful!
