The Woodlands Township reminds residents to drain after rain and leave mosquitoes high and dry! Recent heavy rains coupled with the first confirmed reports of West Nile virus in mosquitoes from The Woodlands make it doubly important to eliminate standing water from your yard.

Mosquito season never really stops in SE Texas, but with the warming weather activity is on the rise. The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department reminds residents to be diligent in taking precautions to protect themselves and loved ones from mosquito-borne disease.

A little water-sipper of a plant, Wedelia texana proves that—even in the middle of a Texas summer—gardeners can have their cake and eat it too! After many spring flowers and gardeners have languished from the heat, this easy-care shrub continues to bloom in an airy bouquet of sweet daisy-like flowers through summer and into fall.

Snakes: Safety Tips to Remember

Each spring as native reptiles stir from winter hibernation, chance encounters with snakes increase.  Although snakes are sighted often following heavy rains and in areas of new construction, the number of venomous snakes is far less than most people believe.
